Bit Face Shape Selection:
1. Drop Center Bit
Ideal for achieving high penetration rates in soft to medium hard and fissured rock formations. Operates well under low to medium air pressures, ensuring maximum hole deviation control.
2. Concave Face
This versatile bit face is perfect for medium hard and homogeneous rock formations, offering good hole deviation control and effective flushing capacity.
3. Convex Face
Designed for high penetration rates in soft to medium-hard rock with low to medium air pressures. It offers excellent resistance to steel wash, potentially reducing the wear on gauge buttons, though it has poor hole deviation control.
4. Flat Face
This face shape is suitable for hard to very hard and abrasive rock formations, especially when using high air pressures. It ensures good penetration rates and resistance to steel wash.
